Kingstonian FC 5 Campbell (15, 23, 80) Drage (21) Tom Jelley (90)
Walton & Hersham 0
On a bitterly cold night a Kingsmeadow Alan Dowson’s weakened Kingstonian side managed to put five past a lacklustre Walton & Hersham. The Swans came to Kingston in good spirits following a victory against local rivals Walton Casuals, but their hopes of causing an upset evaporated in a ten minute spell in the middle of the first half.
Two neatly finished goals from new signing Javlon Campbell sandwiched a goal for centre back Matt Drage and the K’s were able to go into the break with a 3-0 lead.
The half-time break gave the away side pause for thought and the Swans acquitted themselves well for the first the 35 minutes of the second half but the Kingstonian defence kept it tight and both sides were restricted to half chances.
As the game neared its end, winger Dee Okojie began to run at the tiring Walton & Hersham defence, and a tidy pass over the top from the winger allowed Javlon Campbell to run in behind the Swans defence and finish his debut in style with a hat-trick.
In the 90th minute, defender Tom Jelley rounded the score line off to 5-0 with an expertly executed free kick into the top corner and the K’s roll onto their home game against Margate this weekend high in confidence.
