With Christmas fast approaching, now is a great time to get into shape. Whether you are on a budget, cannot commit on a monthly basis or want to try exercise classes as well as going to the gym, we have compiled the three best deals on gym and leisure centre memberships in Kingston.
The Gym – Adams Walk, Eden Street
Kingston’s newest fitness addition is The Gym. Unlike most fitness centres, The Gym is open 24 hours a day, which is perfect for those who want a gym membership, but can only fit it in early mornings or late evenings.
Membership to The Gym is only £15.99 a month, with no contract in sight. Upon signing up you must also pay a £20 enrolment fee.
If you cannot commit to paying a monthly fee, you can opt for the pay-as-you-go membership option. This will cost £5 each time you visit and you can book online on the day you wish to go, or up to 14 days in advance.
Students and graduates can benefit from The Gym’s great deals too. If you have a NUS Extra or Graduate Extra card, you can sign up without paying the enrolment fee. Some more great news for students is you can freeze your membership at any time and reactivate it when you want, which is beneficial during holiday periods.
Kingfisher Leisure Centre (DC Leisure) – Fairfield Road
If you are looking to join a leisure centre offering exercise classes, a swimming pool and a gym, The Kingfisher Leisure Centre is the place for you.
The Kingfisher, owned by DC Leisure, is currently offering a £15.99 monthly gym membership, with a £25 joining fee. If you join on an annual membership, they are currently offering two months free, meaning you will pay for only ten months.
If you want more from your membership and want to be able to go to an exercise class and use the swimming pool, a three month unlimited centre membership is available for only £99.
As with all of The Kingfisher’s memberships, you will receive an induction and a personal fitness programme, as well as full access to the gym seven days a week.
DC Leisure also offer joint memberships with other centres in the Kingston Borough, including the Malden Centre, Tolwoth Recreation Centre and Kingsmeadow Fitness and Athletic Centre. If you wish to opt for a joint membership, it is best to enquire at the centre to find out what is best for your needs.
Kingston University – Penrhyn Road
Kingston University’s fitness centre is not just for students and offers two types of membership: Gold Level (all day access) and Silver Level (entry before 15:00).
A four month gold membership stands at only £179 (£112 for Kingston University students), whilst a 12 month membership is only £384 (£200 for Kingston University students).
If you are an early riser, the silver membership is for you. A four month silver membership is £143 (£80 for Kingston University students) and a 12 month membership is a bargain at £288 (£146 for Kingston University students).
Members must be 16 or over, and all memberships include access to aerobic and exercise classes which cost £4.90 on a pay-as-you-go basis.
You can join the Kingston University fitness centre online. Upon joining, you will also need to book an induction to familiarise yourself with the equipment and the centre. This is included within membership prices.
