‘The Good Life’ actor, Richard Briers died on Sunday following a long struggle with emphysema.
The 79-year-old actor died peacefully in his home at the weekend.
Mr Briers rose to fame in his role as jovial husband Tom Good in Surbiton-based 1970s sitcom, ‘The Good Life’, starring opposite Felicity Kendal and Penelope Keith.
The popular sitcom told the story of suburban couple Tom and Barbara Good, who gave up their jobs to adopt a sustainable lifestyle, much to the bewilderment of uppity neighbours Margo and Jeremy Leadbetter.
The show ran until 1975, after which Mr Briers went on to enjoy an illustrious career in programmes like Ever Decreasing Circles and Monarch of the Glen
He joined Kenneth Branagh’s Renaissance Theatre Company in 1987 and was awarded the OBE in 1989 for services to the arts.
