Uncertainty over jobs and courses as Kingston University proposes to axe Humanities
Kingston University has announced plans to close the Department of Humanities from September 2025.
The decision, which is subject to a 30-day consultation, will mean the end of Humanities courses at Kingston, as well as English and Philosophy courses. Creative Writing, which is currently taught by the Humanities Department, will remain in place.

Amir Wrestling Club helps children, teenagers and adults to get fit with freestyle wrestling. Based in Tolworth, Kingston, the club is run by former wrestler Amir Kamali, who moved to the UK to join his family and chase his dream of becoming a wrestling coach.
The club was awarded Club of the Year at the Kingston Borough Sports Award ceremony in 2024. Kamali was also awarded the Eileen Grey Award for best coach of the year in 2022.
