England thrashed Iran 6-2 on Monday on the second day of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Jude Bellingham, 19, kicked off the momentum for England by scoring in the 35th minute of the game.
Bukayo Saka followed closely behind, scoring a goal for England in the 43rd minute.
Just two minutes later, England’s ferocious offence breaking through the Iran defence really began to show as Raheem Sterling precisely volleyed a cross assisted by Kane right into the net.
England’s unrelenting attack continued after half time as Bukayo Saka skilfully dribbled past four of Iran’s players in the box and neatly slotted it into the bottom left of the net, his second goal of the game.
Iran were tenacious and refused to go down without a fight. Mehdi Taremi adeptly outmanoeuvred the England defence and chipped the ball right over the top of Jordan Pickford and into the back of the net setting the score to 4-1 in the 65th minute.
After Harry McGuire was taken off the pitch with a suspected concussion and both teams brought on some fresh legs, it was time for England’s fresh faces to have their go.
After just a minute on the pitch, Marcus Rashford took three touches and slammed the ball into the back of the Iranian net, increasing the score yet another point.
England’s final goal in the 90th minute showed the quality of the team’s unity as Bellingham launched a beautiful through ball over Iran’s defence to Callum Wilson who neatly crossed it to Jack Grealish before he kicked it into the net.
The last action of the game saw Taremi double down on his first goal as he scored a penalty in the final minutes of the game.
England dominated possession at over 70 percent for the whole game yet Iran remained tenacious throughout.
