Kingstonian Fan Attacked At Local Derby Cup Match

A Kingstonian Fan was “head-butted” as emotions ran high at the local derby match on Tuesday night.

Sutton United Player and Goalkeeping coach Wayne Shaw, was spotted having a heated argument with Kingstonian fans before eventually losing his temper and head-butting an away supporter in the process.

Kingstonian Fan, Jamie Cutteridge, a witness to the attack said: “He climbed up the terrace and started shouting the faces of a few K’s fans, our fans shouted back and Wayne Shaw head-butted one of our fans.”

Mr. Shaw who was described as “really aggressive” was restrained from the action by his Sutton teammates and stewards as scenes quickly turned violent.

Reports have suggested that Kingstonian fans taunted Mr. Shaw during his pre-match warm-up session, making comments about his bodyweight, which provoked him to jump the fence and confront the Kingstonian fans.

Once tempers were cooled, the game went on as normal with Mr. Shaw remaining on the substitutes bench despite his involvement in the pre-match incident.

Both clubs have yet to comment on the incident, with fans and players exiting the stadium in a peaceful manner, which was an unlikely scenario after the rowdy start to the night.

246 fans travelled to Gander Green Lane to watch Sutton United host Kingstonian FC in the Surrey Senior Cup,with Kingstionian winning 1-0 at full time.
