Locals can RE:NEW energy bills this winter

Kingston Council are offering locals the chance to reduce their household bills by over £200 this yuletide, as Boris Johnson’s energy saving scheme comes to Kingston.<--break->“>

The new scheme, funded by the Mayor of London, will advise local households on ways to reduce energy consumptions and preserve their hard earned cash.

The scheme has a multitude of benefits for local home owners. Mr Johnson said: “It makes sound economic sense by saving you money on your fuel bills at a time when they are rising.”

During the winter period, beginning from mid-November until February, energy experts will visit homes in the areas of Chessington North, Hook and Old Malden, and lend their expert advice on the many ways in which energy could be saved.

The energy experts will fit free energy saving devices, check whether houses would benefit from improved insulation and check to see if residents are eligible for grants to replace their heating systems or for solar panels.

This practical advice makes sense in the current economic climate and is an effort to help local residents keep healthy and warm during the frosty winter, whilst also avoiding sky-high fuel bills.

Councillor Derek Osbourne, Leader of Kingston Council with responsibility for Environment and Climate Change, said: “There are many positive aspects to this scheme; saving money, reducing environmental impact, and helping everyone to keep warm this winter.”

An enthusiastic Mr Johnson, said: “I would urge residents of Kingston eligible for RE:NEW to take full advantage of this free service.”

Locals looking to save some money for the Christmas period are advised to book fast, as only a limited number of visits are available, which can be booked online, or by calling 0800 652 7207.
