Nightlife round-up: Things to do in Kingston after dark

From comedy to clubbing, we’ve drawn up a list of ideas to keep your evenings busy

Nightlife is not what it used to be, if you go by the stats. Nearly three-quarters of 18 to 30-year-olds report going out less, and over 3000 clubs, bars and pubs have closed in London since the pandemic, according to a 2025 UK Night Time Industries Association survey.

However, the passion for going out remains.

Going out can also be good for mental wellbeing.  The Office for National Statistics data shows younger adults are experiencing higher levels of loneliness, along with depressive symptoms. The NHS says “connecting with other people” is one of the five ways to improve mental wellbeing. While going out is not a solution on its own, being surrounded by people and spending quality time with them is a simple way to feel more connected.

It is choosing to go out and reset instead of doomscrolling, choosing to mingle even when you do not feel super social and reminding yourself that your week does not have to be just work, school or deadlines.

If you are looking to kickstart your week with a chuckle, The Fighting Cocks is the place to be. On Mondays, Outside the Box hosts comedy night, perfect if you want to have fun without the pressure of making plans.

Tuesday is for the people who want to show their competitive side. The Super Quiz at The Grey Horse runs every Tuesday from 8 pm, a budget friendly option at only £3 per entry.

On Wednesdays, you can head to Ram Jam Records for open mic night. If you want to perform, you can register at 6 pm and the first performance starts at 7. You can either join in or sit back, relax, and enjoy othersperforming.

If you’re looking for a boogie, but not a heavy night of clubbing, you can go to Somos Caribe Academy in Surbiton. They offer salsa lessons every Monday and Wednesday.

For those looking for a night filled with music, O’Neill’s has karaoke on Thursdays and a live band on Fridays and Saturdays. But if you prefer a mellow atmosphere, The Druids Head has a pub quiz every Thursday.

The Circuit is the best pick for those who want to have a classic club experience. It is open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30 pm to 3 am. If you simply want a late location that is open every day of the week, Bonnie Rogues stay open until 2 am every night.

Last but not least, for a nightlife experience that feels more like an activity than just going for drinks, Urban Fun has private karaoke booths you can book with your friends.

Pick a night, call some friends, and give yourself something to look forward to after a hard day.
