Caitlin Trevor broke the American record at the recent British Downs Syndrome Championship

KINGSTON — Caitlin Trevor was crowned 50-meter breaststroke American record holder at the fourth annual British Downs Syndrome Championships at K2 Crawley in West Sussex on 15-16 November.

Trevor, who trains with the Kingston Royals swim club, headed by coach Ross Douglass, had been chasing this record for over three years.

The young winner races under the class S14 ii2 in para-swimming. Although she lives and practices in Kingston, she represents her mother’s home country, the United States of America, in competition.

After topping the record books, Trevor said she hoped to continue pushing her times and gather a few more records as she prepares for the US Paralympics Swimming National Championships in June 2026.
