The Kingston Business Excellence Awards celebrate local achievements

The Kingston Business Excellence Awards celebrated a year of the borough’s business achievements with their sixth annual award ceremony on October 11.

The main award of Kingston Business of the Year went to The White House Nursing Home, an ‘Outstanding’ rated care home.

Managing Director of the home, Rahim Nurmohamed, said: “Winning Business of the Year is overwhelming. We are very happy, very proud and very surprised to have won as we were up against a really tough list of fantastic businesses.”

Nurmohamed dedicated the award to his staff who provide end of life care to their residents every day.

The evening was hosted by TV journalist Sally Bundock and the 270 guests were taken by boat across the Thames to enjoy the festivities at the Ravens AIT island venue.

Kingston and Surbiton MP Ed Davey and representatives of Kingston First, Kingston Chamber of Commerce and other sponsoring organisations were among the guests. The mayor of Kingston, Thay Thayalan, was also in attendance.

Thayalan said: “It has been great to celebrate the success and achievements of the best of the borough’s businesses. Of course, there are many other local businesses who should also be congratulated for their contribution to employment and prosperity in the borough.”

There was a record number of entries this year coming from a total of sixty-nine local Kingston businesses new and old.
