Royal Mail has deployed a “singing” postbox in London for the Christmas season, which plays jingles to the user when they post a letter.
The postbox, which has been situated in Greenwich since late November, responds with one of three soundtracks which include sleigh bells and a greeting from Father Christmas.
Simon Barker, operations director at Royal Mail, said: “Delivering Christmas is our absolute priority this December. In the process, we enjoy any way we can add a little extra fun and festivity to posting Christmas cards this year.”
Similar postboxes have been launched in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, and Royal Mail may consider installing more if they are popular.
They are located at:
London: Greenwich Promenade, King William Walk, London, SE10 9HT
Edinburgh: 137-141 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1SG
Cardiff: 29 Queen Street, Cardiff, CF10 2AH
Belfast: 4 Wellington Place, Belfast, BT1 6GE
