Refugee Action Kingston (RAK), a voluntary run organisation established in 1991, offers support to refugees.
The charity recently received funding from the National Lottery, which is said would be used to pay for a Volunteer Coordinator role.
The charity hopes to take on more volunteers, especially in its education programme.
The Kingston Courier visited an after-school session run by RAK’s volunteers, where refugees receive academic support in learning English to developing new skills, such as sewing and arts.
Volunteers and refugees remain anonymous in the report, due to privacy and safety concerns.
Captions are used to indicate when a new volunteer is speaking.
