Activities range from metal embossing to music concerts
Christmas is coming to the Dorich House Museum with a variety of events and workshops from Thursday 4 December to Sunday 7 December.
Local artists from Kingston Artists Open Studios will organise Christmas pop-up stands in the first floor Modelling Studio from Thursday 4 December to Saturday 6 December. Visitors will be able to find items such as ceramics, paintings, drawings, stationery and textiles.
Textile historian Pamela Smith will be on hand for an illustrated talk on the history of Russian Dress on Thursday 4 December from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Smith will show textile examples from a vast Russian collection of the museum, which represents lifestyles of saints, tsars, nobles and peasants from the 18th to 20th century. A group of MA Music students from Kingston University will stage a live music concert later that day from 1 pm to 2 pm in the Modelling Studio. The music will range from classical to Christmas to pop. The event is free. However the seats are limited so be sure to arrive early.
Visitors are invited to participate in a relaxing Christmas Craft Workshop on Saturday 6 December from 1 pm to 4 pm. Artist Anna Milgrom will teach participants how to make their own Christmas decorations involving metal embossing, the art of creating patterns in metal sheets with a stylus. The workshop will take place in the Modelling Studio and is suitable for ages 10 and over. All materials are provided. Tickets are available here.

Join Father Christmas and visit the Children’s Festive Grotto event on Sunday 7 December from 12 noon to 4 pm. A range of activities, from Christmas decoration to badge making, will take place in the Modelling Studio. The event is for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) families only.
Dorich House Museum is also offering guided tours at 2 pm on Friday 5 and at 11 am on Saturday 6, Thursday 18 and Saturday 20. Tickets are available here.
