The Pub Run Club organised the event to fundraise for the Kingston Hospital Charity and The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service.
The Pub Run Club hosted Kingston’s first Santa Dash on the 13th of December in an effort to fundraise for two charities.
Founded last year, the club is a free amateur running community that hosts 5km runs around Kingston every Thursday evening sporting the slogan ‘Have Fun, Get Fit, Be Social’.
On bringing this ethos into the festive run, co-founder Chris Ford said: “The ‘having fun’ group is going to be a little bit slower, the ‘getting fit’ group is a lot faster” adding that the ‘being social’ group would take the 5km at a walking pace.
They hosted the Santa Dash to bring friends, family, and the community together, as well as to raise money for charities local to the community. The event was sponsored by Thames Ditton BYD of Berry Group, and commercial window cleaners Aquamark Cleaning.
The dash drew a large crowd at The Grove in Surbiton, all receiving five-piece Santa suits on arrival. The club had their portable backpack speaker system at the ready to fill the run with Christmas music.
