The Princess Alice Hospice located on Old London Road in Kingston has been awarded a large donation of £22,818 from Morrisons, allowing the hospice to purchase vital new equipment.
Over 35 years the Princess Alice Hospice has been providing specialist palliative care and advice to patients with life-limiting illnesses. The hospice has been supporting and guiding as patients families and healthcare professionals from across South West London, parts of Surrey and Middlesex.
Tim Iredale, corporate partnerships lead at the hospice, said: “Last year, Princess Alice Hospice accepted 272 admissions onto the IPU [Inpatient Unit] and provided 3,818 days and nights of care, looking after our patients and their loved ones when they needed us most, so this donation will be put to fantastic use in supporting that vital care.”
It costs over £10m each year for the Princess Alice Hospice to provide free care for the community. The hospice relies on charitable donations as only 24% of its income comes from NHS sources.
This grant has allowed the hospice to acquire pressure relieving beds and other essential apparatus to improve the comfort and quality of life for people receiving care in the IPU.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up in 2015 by the supermarket chain to award grants for charity projects with the aim to improve people’s lives.
Since its launch they have donated over £38m to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
