Saving the world: How Kingston’s local community is preserving the environment

For over a decade, Kingston Environment Centre have held a Seedy Sunday event, giving residents the chance to swap seeds and learn how to live an environmentally sustainable life.

Supporting the event was Save The World Club charity, founded by Des Kay, who is also known as ‘The Green Man’, in 1985.

The group looks to promote the recycling and reusing of as many items as possible, and takes in unwanted items with the goal of finding a new purpose for them.

In a world where the focus on the environment is becoming a more prevalent and urgent matter, these groups are trying to bring the local community together to ensure that Kingston can be a self-sustainable place to live.
