Footballers boycott social media following abuse

Last week Swansea City announced that they would boycott social media as a result of the abuse their players receive.

They joined former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry in not posting anything on social media for at least a week.

There has been much debate around what to do to combat the problem of social media abuse.

Many high-profile figures have called for stricter rules on who can join social media sites with some believing it should be mandatory for people to submit ID before starting an account.

We asked three students what they thought about the discourse around the issue.
