Protesters march on Angolan embassy to demand release of imprisoned students

On 29 April a group of protesters gathered outside the Angolan embassy in Marylebone, West London.

They were campaigning against the Angolan president, José Eduardo Dos Santos, after news emerged that he had imprisoned 17 students for holding a public reading of a political book.

The demonstration called for the students’ release and the resignation of President Dos Santos.

Dos Santos has served as Angola’s president since 1979, though recently pledged to leave office in 2018.
