Local designer donates Christmas cards to Surbiton care home

A Kingston greeting card designer donated Christmas cards to a Surbiton care home to spread festive cheer.

Independent publisher Emma Bryan, who started her business in 2019, gifted her cards for the Royal Star & Garter care home residents to send to loved ones on Friday, November 27.

She said: “My job as a greetings card designer has never felt more important than this year where connection has been so crucial during the lockdowns.

“So, it gives me great pleasure to donate these greeting cards so that the Surbiton residents can enjoy writing to family and friends.”

November 27 marked Festive Friday which is when the greeting card industry starts to encourage the sending of festive cards.

Bryan gave her own designs as well as cards donated by Davora, a Manchester-based firm that supplies specialist cards for cultural celebrations.

The donated cards were dropped off and quarantined at the care home earlier in the week.

The home’s activities manager Raquel Pena Aristizabal said: “The residents thought Emma’s designs were beautiful, and really appreciated the donation.

“They enjoyed writing to their friends and relatives.”

In October, Christmas card designs from some of Royal Star & Garter’s residents went on sale to raise money for the charity.
