Figures from the Met Police revealed that Kingston had the worst police “immediate response” times of all London boroughs.
Kingston’s average target response time for “immediate response” calls – emergency calls involving a potential threat to life – was the slowest with 23 minutes in June last year, as opposed to an average target of 15 minutes across London.
Local MP Ed Davey said: “The figures are extremely concerning. The safety of Kingston’s residents is being put at risk because of a lack of funding and a re-organisation programme which has failed to work.”
He further called out London Mayor Sadiq Khan on the issue: “London’s Labour Mayor cannot continue to use Tory cuts as an excuse. He needs to step up and use every means necessary to keep Londoners safe.”
The London borough of Brent came second to last with an average response time of 18 minutes.
