Kingston Mosque Awarded Best Supporting Organisation 2014 By Muslim Aid

The Kingston Muslim Community raised over £100,000 for Syrian refugees Kingston Mosque has been awarded Best Supporting Organisation 2014 by the international relief and development agency Muslim Aid.

The award comes after the Kingston Muslim Community held a charity dinner in December, raising £115,000 for Syrian refugees.

Chairman of the Kingston Mosque, Javed Rafiq, said: “Just raising the funds for Syrian refugees would have been satisfaction in itself, but receiving this award was the icing on the cake.

“It’s not the Kingston Mosque who really deserves this award, it’s really the Kingston Muslim Community who came together on the night.

They are the true recipients of this award.”

The money raised by the Kingston Muslim Community will be channelled through Muslim Aid to help the millions of displaced Syrian refugees fleeing the bloodshed in their country.

Muslim Aid is a UK-based organisation that works with over 70 of the world’s poorest countries, aiming to alleviate poverty and promote economic and social justice.
