Deprived Kingston estate’s regeneration ballot scheduled for early 2020

Residents of Cambridge Road Estate will soon vote in a ballot deciding whether or not the estate is regenerated.

Kingston Council agreed to re-schedule the ballot for early 2020 after granting tenants of social landlords the chance to vote in the ballot.

Cambridge Road Estate sits on the edge of the most deprived part of Norbiton and currently provides 600 social homes.

Property developer Countryside will work with the council to increase the total number of homes from 850 to 2100.

The project is expected to take 10-15 years to be completed and will see hundreds of residents placed in temporary housing during construction phases.
