The Guildhall will showcase a line-up of five stand-up comedians on Saturday 15 February.
Kingston Council has organised a comedy event to raise money for the Mayor’s Charitable Trust, the first of its kind for the Chamber.
This year, the money will go to Habitats & Heritage — a charity that protects the natural and historic environment of south and west London.
“I’ve always been interested in the environmental aspects of the work we do as a council,” said Liz Green, Mayor of Kingston.
“This charity enables Kingston’s Friends of Parks groups to do what they do best, and provide the manpower that cannot be provided by the council.”
Habitats & Heritage support groups such as Friends of Queens Promenade and Friends of Manor Park, which are run by local volunteers who want to help maintain their green spaces.
Previous recipients of the Mayor’s Charitable Trust include Voices of Hope and the Kingston Charitable Foundation.
The mayor wanted to choose both a charity and fundraising event that reflected her personal interests, which included stand-up comedy.
The evening will showcase comics Samantha Day, Roman Harris and Dragos Mostenescu, and will be headlined by Matt Price.
The mayor added that although admittedly “comedy needs to be risqué, we are the council, so it won’t be too risqué”.
Tickets are £20 and can be purchased here.
