A Kingston University lecturer pleaded guilty to causing a public nuisance on Tuesday after taking part in a Just Stop Oil protest on the M25.
Jan Goodey, 57, from Brighton, was arrested at junction 16 of the M25 earlier this week. He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, and was remanded in custody.
He will next appear for sentencing at the same court on Tuesday 29 November, the Metropolitan Police said.
The protests, organised by activist group Just Stop Oil, caused disruption on the M25 in Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent and Surrey.
Police forces from the four locations and Metropolitan Police intervened and have since charged 22 people.
Amongst those arrested was Roger Hallam, the co-founder of Extinction Rebellion, who was charged with conspiracy to cause a public nuisance.
On Friday, Just Stop Oil, which is campaigning for an end to new oil and gas licensing and consents, said it would halt its action on the motorway to “give time to those in over government who are in touch with reality to consider their responsibilities to this country at this time.”
