Mesut Ozil registered a goal and two assists in a dominant performance for the Gunners, who continue to build momentum in the Premier League.
Despite losing their first two games in August, the North London side have simply refused to stop winning since, equalling a club record with this result.
While the statistics are impressive, they cannot do justice to the sheer ingenuity, elegance and audacity of Ozil’s contributions, in a display that will go down as possibly his finest in an Arsenal shirt.
On an electric night at the Emirates, Leicester began the game confidently, Maguire forcing Leno into an acrobatic save with a low header early on. The Foxes then took the lead when a counter-attack ended with Bellerin deflecting the ball into his own net.
In what was arguably uncharacteristic fashion, the Arsenal players immediately rallied and they went close with efforts from Holding and Iwobi, both well saved by Casper Schmeichel in the Leicester goal.
However, Unai Emery’s men finally broke through after a flowing move saw Ozil open up his body beautifully to place the ball in the far corner.
The second half provided more of the same, only with the added threat of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front for Arsenal.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker scored with his first touch, a simple tap-in after Ozil had taken out four Leicester players with a stunning through ball to Bellerin down the right flank.
The third goal, again orchestrated entirely by Ozil, saw the inspired German bamboozle Jonny Evans with a deft back-heel on the halfway line, dummy on the edge of the box and with a swish of his left boot, flick the ball over the onrushing Schmeichel to provide the grateful Aubameyang with another routine finish.
Leicester never really threatened after this, and the Gunners held on for a win that pushed them up to fourth in the table, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur on goal difference.
Prithvi, a fan amongst the home faithful, said he believed this would be the year Arsenal finally regained the Premier League trophy. “We have had some drastic changes this year”, he said. “Everyone is competing for their position and that’s what is required to win.
“Unai Emery is a positive manager, he has got something special and I think we can do it this season.”
