WSL match between Chelsea and Tottenham postponed due to covid outbreak

Chelsea’s Women’s Super League (WSL) fixture against Tottenham Hotspur has been postponed due to a covid outbreak in the Tottenham squad.

The match between the two London sides was due to be played at Kingsmeadow in Norbiton on Wednesday evening, and will now be played at a later date.

In a statement on their website, Chelsea confirmed the postponement: “Chelsea FC can confirm that tonight’s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur Women will be rescheduled.

“The decision was agreed between both teams and the FA after a number of positive tests for Covid-19 were returned within the Tottenham Hotspur team set-up after the last round of testing. A revised date for the match will be confirmed in due course.”

Chelsea also confirmed that all existing tickets for the match will be valid for the rearranged fixture.

The cancellation marks the first covid postponement in the WSL since January.

Chelsea’s next match in the WSL will be against Leicester on Sunday, whilst Spurs travel to rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
