Bradley Simpson, lead singer of British boyband The Vamps, performed at Pryzm Kingston on Friday 28 February, the day he launched his solo debut album, in an event organised by Banquet Records.
Titled The Panic Years, the album explores Simpson’s personal experiences about life, love and learning and reflects on dealing with your twenties.
Eila Marshall-Gowen and Hayley Marshall-Gowen, who stood in the line for the gig, were very excited to hear Simpson play live.
Eila said: “I am really excited to hear all the new songs on the record. It’s a fresh sound, but it still has the signature style that we love.”
Simpson took the stage to perform acoustic versions of songs from his albums. The set list included songs from his new album, such as Daisies, Carpet Burn and Not Us Anymore. This was the first time that Simpson performed these songs live before his upcoming tour.

Talking about Simpson’s solo music sound being different from his band The Vamp’s sound, Hayley, who is originally a Vamps fan, said: “I think it’s great! We kind of get the best of both worlds- we still have the band, but we also get to experience their solo work as well. You can still hear the Vamps’ DNA in what he does, which is really nice.”
The Panic Years is out now on digital, you can also get physical copies at Banquet Records or through Simpson’s official website.
