New PureGym to open in Kingston town centre

The gym chain PureGym is set to open a new branch on Adam’s Walk in Kingston town centre.

Situated in what used to be an Argos warehouse, it will be opposite an existing gym belonging to The Gym Group.

PureGym has around 1.6 million members across 500 gyms throughout Europe and says it  “provides high quality, low cost, flexible physical fitness facilities”.

The Kingston facility will be one out of 60 PureGyms in London alone and like the GymGroup, all PureGym gyms are open 24 hours a day.

PureGym offers a £0 joining fee, unlimited classes and a 30% discount for students.

Yohan, a regular member of The Gym Group, said: “PureGym will be around 20 to £30 cheaper, but I like the classes here [at the GymGroup], so I am going to stay.”

Another member of The Gym Group, Emily, said that she thinks that PureGym’s decision to open a facility directly opposite another gym is “really cheeky”.

According to PureGym, the Kingston gym will offer state-of-the-art facilities, a free weights area and a functional area. It is hoping to woo customers with its no-contract gym membership and round-the-clock access.
