Local businesses celebrated at Kingston Business Awards

A local café, telecommunications companies and a professional declutterer were amongst the winners at the Kingston Business Excellence Awards.

The winners of the 13 awards were announced on Thursday October 9 during a gala dinner and ceremony held at the Ravens Ait on the River Thames.

Pangea Connected Ltd, a telecommunications company, was the biggest winner receiving the ‘Business of the Year’ and ‘Best Small Business’ awards, as well the ‘Business Entrepreneur of the Year’ award for managing director Dan Cunliffe.

Mobile accessory distributor and telecommunications company Genuine Solutions was also successful and was presented with the ‘Best Employer’ and ‘Best Medium Sized Business’ awards.

The ‘Food and Beverage Award’ went to Fortunella Café, a local eatery that is highly reviewed by local visitors. Owner Goran Brnovic was incredibly pleased with the win, stating it “came at the right time” for the establishment. He said: “It means a lot, not just to me, but to my staff, who gave all this passion to bring Fortunella to this stage.”

He also added: “It’s giving us motivation to continue to provide great service, great food to the community.”

Kingston craft beer company 7000 Jars of Beer was awarded the ‘Love Your Local Retailer’ award, which aims to recognise the contributions made to the local economy.

It is working with ‘Best Charity or Social Enterprise’ winners Kingston Churches’ Action on Homelessness to collect sleeping bags for those sleeping rough.
