Train services provided by South Western Railway (SWR), Thameslink, and Transport for London are severely disrupted following an incident on the tracks earlier.
SWR posted on X (Twitter) earlier: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Wimbledon and Sutton.
”All lines are currently blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.“
All lines through Wimbledon were suspended after the incident and services to Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden, and Raynes Park were diverted via Richmond.
Emergency services attended the scene and all power was terminated to the lines.
Disruption was expected to end at 3pm, but some services still face delays and cancellations, which are expected to continue until 10pm.
Valid tickets are being accepted on other routes, and rail operators are posting live updates on their websites to update commuters.
British Transport Police urge everyone to keep clear of any open track, stay well back from the yellow line, and never to trespass on the railway.
