Schuh’s Kingston store on Clarence Street has called for customers to trade in old pairs of shoes in exchange for a £10 voucher, to support UK children’s charity, Newlife.
Newlife supports disabled and terminally ill children and their families in the UK by providing specialist equipment and care services, investing in medical research, and campaigning for the rights of children with disabilities.
Newlife’s commercial director Colin Brown said donated shoes would be sold, broken down for raw material reclamation and recycled, benefitting both the charity and the environment.
He said: “Newlife receives funds based on the weight sent for recycling – so the more shoes people donate, the more money Newlife receives.
“Schuh Kingston’s decision to support us in this campaign is a vital part of this and we can’t thank them enough for their help.”
Each voucher can be redeemed against the cost of a new pair of shoes over £30.
The Sell Your Soles campaign is running in selected Schuh stores across the UK and ends on November 12 2017.
