Firefighters were called after several people reported the trapped bird
A crow which was caught in anti-bird netting above Kingston Market at the weekend has been saved by firefighters.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called to reports of the trapped bird on Saturday (16 November), as crowds of concerned people looked on.
“It was heart-breaking watching the poor bird” said Claire Inns, who lives in Kingston and saw what happened.
Footage of the incident shows the bird struggling to break free with its wing visibly injured.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at around 1.30pm.

A cordon was set up around Kingston Market Hall and a firefighter scaled the building with a ladder, setting the crow loose.
Claire, who arrived at the scene as firefighters were in the middle of their rescue, added:
“The fire brigade climbed up and cut the bird free and caught it in the blue tarpaulin.”
A spokesperson from the LFB said the bird was taken to a rehabilitation centre for corvids (the bird family of crows, ravens and magpies) on advice from the RSPCA.
The spokesperson could not tell The Kingston Courier which centre the crow had been taken to.
