Tolworth Girls’ School and Sixth Form is “absolutely delighted” to have achieved ‘outstanding’ ratings in all areas of its latest Ofsted report.
The non-selective academy secondary school with mixed sixth form, in Fullers Way North, received the official outcome yesterday following an inspection between 19-20 September this year.
It showed that the top ‘outstanding’ grade had been awarded for the overall effectiveness of the school and in each of the five categories that determined the judgement.
The report said: “The headteacher’s leadership has ensured that the school has continued to improve over time and provides an outstanding education for pupils
“Staff are aspirational for their pupils and want the best for them.
“Pupils make strong progress across a wide range of subjects because of consistently strong teaching”.
The report also praised the behaviour and positive attitudes of the students in and around the school.
Headteacher Siobhan Lowe said: “We are absolutely delighted. Staff work really hard and examination results have steadily improved with this year being record breaking for us.
“It truly reflects the hard work of everyone at the school.”
Lowe also described how students were told about the exciting news in a special assembly and burst into rapturous applause upon hearing of the achievement.
The overall effectiveness of the school was judged to be ‘good’ after its previous inspection in September 2012.
Extensive building work is currently taking place on the school site to provide additional buildings and facilities for the future.
