Formally organised outdoor sports are allowed to resume from Monday March 29, almost three months after being banned when the country was placed into a national lockdown.
Local sports clubs such as Kingston Rowing Club (KCR) are raring to come back together and get outside.
Kakay Halle, captain at the club, said: “For many people this is more than just a sport to do, it’s community. That’s what the rowing club is.
“It’s where a lot of people join just to meet friends and likeminded people. So I think everyone is just very excited to get back to that and not have to think about another closure.”
Clubs have had a rough time since the first lockdown in March last year, having to ensure they are Covid-secure when reopening and adapt to ever-changing rules and restrictions.
After a year of ups and downs, Halle believes KCR is now well equipped to manage the return to rowing.
