Kingston Council warns of pay and display scam

Kingston Council has urged motorists to be wary of a scam involving pay and display parking machines around the borough.

In a statement released on the council’s website, they said: “Scammers are attaching devices to the card machine, which means that the card is not returned and money is taken from the account.”

It is currently unclear how many machines are affected, but the council has urged locals to be cautious and to avoid paying by card where possible.

Anyone who thinks they have been scammed is encouraged to call the parking service provider on 0330 135 8952 or 101 if they are unavailable.
