Drug-dealing graduate spared imprisonment

A drug-dealing graduate from Wimbledon was given a suspended sentence of 10 months at Kingston Crown Court yesterday.<--break->“></p> <p>Alistair Parsons, 22, of Stroud Road, London, was charged with numerous offences including the possession of Class A and B drugs with intent to sell, and the possession criminal property.</p> <p>Parsons, a regular cannabis user, was arrested on August 5 last year during a raid at his parents home, where police found the drugs, along with dealing paraphernalia and stolen bank notes in his bedroom.</p> <p>The court heard how Parsons, who recently graduated from Manchester University with a 2.1 in Graphic Design, had struggled to get a job and as a last resort turned to drug dealing.</p> <p>During the raid, police discovered dyed bank notes to the value of £200, which the defendant claimed he had found in a local park. He stated that he retained them thinking they might be of some value, despite recognising that it was “dodgy money”.</p> <p>The court heard that officers also found incriminating records on Parsons’ phone, indicating the small circle of friends and associates to whom he supplied the drugs. Recorder Purchas QC acknowledged that, although this was not drug-dealing on a grand scale, Parsons was involved in dealing in “a significant way.”</p> <p>The court ordered that in addition to the suspended sentence, Parsons must undertake 150 hours of unpaid work as well as placing him under a month-long, tagged curfew.</p> <p>Judge Purchas accepted that, since his arrest, the young defendant had made significant changes to improve his life, stating: “You are a young man at the start of your career,” adding: “You want to make something of your life.”</p> <p>Parsons recently gained employment at a graphic design company in Covent Garden and when addressing the defendant Judge Purchas said: “Hopefully over the course of those two years you will have made great progress in your career and in that I wish you good luck.”</p> <!-- MOLONGUI AUTHORSHIP PLUGIN 4.7.10 --> <!-- https://www.molongui.com/authorship/ --> <div class=
